With a new year comes new projects and opportunities, and today we are proud to announce a collaborative effort between Adapt, Hieroglyphics and Souls of Mischief. As fellow bay area natives, and with the great respect we have for the music they have been creating for decades, it made alot of sense for us to do a project together. A homage to one of the greatest hip hop songs PERIOD (check the video below if you need to be educated), the 93 til’ tee was a representation of a classic ideal that meshes well with our ideas of personal advancement and continuing into the future, wherever that may take us.

This tee will be available next week on TUESDAY, JANUARY 12th, through the Adapt SHOP, on the Hieroglyphics webstore, and exclusively through True and Status (San Francisco) stores.

The Bay is known for many things: gangstas, grapes, grills, graffiti, and GIRAFA.
Yeah, I am a little gangster. No, I don’t have any grapes (right now.) Yes, I own a grill. And HELL YEAH, I love me some graffiti. That is one reason I say long live Girafa! Those who don’t know, he is an incredibly talented graf artist who is known by his giraffe icon. Hence the pseudonym, Girafa. He blesses the streets with unique works of art, or he did, until he was recently caught. I know graffiti is illegal, but my world wouldn’t be the same if random giraffes weren’t spotted all over bay area cities. All I want is art to be viewed and appreciated, and some way, some how, great graffiti like Girafa’s to not have repercussions.

I am not a backpacker. Yet, a few months ago, I figured I needed a backpack for traveling. Lugging a duffle bag through airports, in & out of cars…well, it beats a suitcase but not by much. I wanted a bag that could securely carry my laptop, a cap, my Canon & a carton of cigs.

Milk & Honey… Mmm

The Oakland-based singer/song-writer, Goapele, is due to release her new album, Milk & Honey, sometime in early 2010. Oh how I wish it were sooner! Right now though, she’s teased us with her first single, also titled “Mik & Honey”.

The song is hot! Of course it is, it’s Goapele. Her lyrics match the sultry of her voice. Her phrasing is, as always, so damn unique. And thankfully, she didn’t overdo the synthesizer. It was definitely tasteful. Aside from her haunting voice, which still makes the hair on my arms stand on end, the beat alone is sick. I love how the bass comes in during the second hook. Bedrock knew what he was doing when he produced this track!

Last week, via Vimeo, she debuted the music video, directed by Dahveed Telles – check it out! I used to want those bottom gold fangs she has but am not too sure if I could pull it off. No doubt she can. Sexy woman, beautiful smile, classy with a lil hood, what else could you ask for? Plus, I’ve always been a fan of milk and honey, but it never looked this good!
